Colin was born and raised in southeastern New York, and his family has owned property in the Adirondacks for nearly 60 years. All throughout his childhood and for most summers since, their small camp outside Tupper Lake became a home away from home.
Colin received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland. His six years of service as an officer included the management of $150 million of assets and 51 personnel at a Navy hovercraft unit, the direction of a 70-person team for the decommissioning of a guided missile destroyer, and the development of the classified anti-terrorism tactics for the Navy’s surface warfare community.
While still serving in the Navy, Colin also earned his Masters of Business Administration from Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia. After leaving the Navy, Colin and Lisa moved to Columbus, Ohio, where he spent the next several years serving on the leadership teams of a few small, entrepreneurial businesses – including one that was later sold to Cisco Systems.
Colin grew up actively involved in church, but it wasn’t until he was influenced by several key people that he became a follower of Jesus at age 21. Before long, he was quickly thrust into various leadership roles, with 23 years of ministry experience ranging from serving as a shipboard chaplain and chairman of a faith-based non-profit organization to leading several men’s and co-ed small groups.
About 18 years ago, he received a clear calling into full-time vocational ministry and started his studies at the Vineyard Leadership Institute. In 2019, Colin earned his Doctor of Missiology from Fuller Seminary where he focused his research on perseverance in the work of ministry. His doctoral dissertation was selected for Fuller’s 2019 Spirituality and Mission Award, given to one graduate whose thesis or dissertation gives an outstanding treatment of the theory and practice of spirituality and mission.
Colin has fifteen years of full-time vocational ministry experience, including two executive pastor roles at large Vineyard churches in Central Ohio. After living in the Columbus area for 12 years, he was thrilled to return to his home state of New York to launch ADK Mission.
